Baidyanath Nath’s statue inaugurated

 HAILAKANDI, June 24 – The Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Prof Tapodhir Bhattacharjee recently unveiled the statue of eminent freedom fighter, architect, writer and the founder of Dainik Jugasankha newspaper, Barta Bhagirath Baidyanath Nath at Baidyanath Sarani of Rongpur in Silchar town on the occasion of his 40th death anniversary.

The statue of late Nath was established as part of the yearlong celebration of the diamond jubilee of Dainik Jugasankha newspaper. The meeting held on the occasion was presided over by the chairman of Jugasankha group of newspaper, Bijoy Krishna Nath and was addressed by the president of Chatramitra Sangathan, Sushil Paul, chairperson of the diamond jubilee celebration, Chabi Gupta, executive director of Jugasankha group, Nilotpal Choudhury, editor Santanu Ghosh, Mausam Dutta, secretary of Silchar Press Club, Sankar Dey, poet Mahua Choudhury among others.

In his address, Prof Bhattacharjee explained the life and contribution of late Nath. He urged the media persons and younger generation to follow the path shown by him. A brief cultural programme was organised on the occasion.
