SENAPATI, June 23 - Naga tribe hohos under the aegis of United Naga Council (UNC) organised prayer programmes in Naga areas in Manipur recently for the settlement of the Indo-Naga peace process at the earliest “based on the unique history of the Nagas and situation”.
The prayer programmes were also held for the strict adherence of the ceasefire ground rules by the NSCN and the Government of India so as to let peace prevail in the region including Indo-Myyanmar Naga areas.
The prayer programmes were held in Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati and Chandel. The UNC also organised the prayer programme in Imphal.
Speaking to Newmai News Network after the programmes, , president of the UNC, urged the Government of India "to be bold enough to resolve the nearly century old Naga political problem".
The UNC chief S Kho John lamented that the issue continues to drag on. “For how long the Naga people have to suffer?”, he asked.
