IMPHAL, June 23 - Manipur Government’s ‘Go to Village’ mission, which was launched on May 1 last, has so far provided benefits to 1,73,327 beneficiaries out of the total 2,40,602 enrolled for different schemes, according to official sources.
A total number of 61,371 beneficiaries are yet to be provided benefits under various schemes related to the ‘Go to Village’ mission.
The mission, which was a brainchild of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, aims to reach out to the citizens at their doorsteps and provide awareness on government programmes and its benefits, and ensure timely delivery of services to eligible beneficiaries.
Initially, the mission planned to improve the agricultural sector which has been badly affected due to frequent crop failure. But the mission was subsequently incorporated with other government departments to focus on social benefits, health, education and identification of eligible beneficiaries left out of government schemes like housing and old age pension.
The mission has completed four phases so far. The next phase will be held from June 27.
