|Aid for fish farmers|
RAHA, June 22 - Lime, fertilizers and fish feed were distributed among 35 fish farmers under the Scheduled Caste sub-plan programme on socio-economic uplift of SC community of Thekeraguri village, Nagaon and Morigaon district through scientific fish farming and fish-based eco-tourism.
The programme was jointly implemented by College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University, Raha and Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand.
College faculty members Dr SK Bhagabati, Dr R Dutta, Dr UK Das and Dr PK Saharia were present, while No.48 Thekeraguri Fishery Cooperative Society president Jibeshwar Das and member Leelakanta Das coordinated the distribution.
Fish fingerlings of improved Jayanti Rahu, Catla and Mrigal were released during the programme.
Fish seeds were also released in two community ponds of the village.
Nearly 900 SC beneficiaries from 160 households will be benefited.
