TURA, June 22 - West Garo Hills. Police today arrested two members of a notorious gang of bike-lifters from Damal Asim village in the district.

As per reports available, after receiving a tip-off from vigilant persons from the area, a team led by the CI of Tura Sadar Police Station along with the OC of Tura Police Station, conducted a raid at around 3 am today in the house of one of the suspects in Damal Asim, who was allegedly involved in cases of motorcycle theft.

“The town of Tura had been witness to many cases of bike thefts over the past few weeks. We received information that these suspected bike-lifters could be behind the incidents. On getting a tip-off, we raided the house and were able to recover 2 stolen bikes along with some fake number plates used by the gang,” said district police chief Dr MGR Kumar.

The recovery led to the arrest of two persons from the village, who allegedly are a part of a larger group of criminals. “A case has been registered and is being investigated. We are trying to nab the other members of the same gang,” added Dr Kumar.
