Sabha appeal to CM on Assamese language

 GUWAHATI, June 22 - Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi today hailed the announcement made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that learning the Marathi language would be made compulsory through a legislation in all schools of Maharashtra, no mater whether they are governed by the CBSE or the ICSE syllabus.

Dr Rajbongshi has appealed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to adopt a similar legislation in the next session of the State Assembly to make learning of Assamese and indigenous languages of the State compulsory in the State’s schools. He also urged the Chief Minister to take appropriate measures for implementation of the State’s Official Language Act in the ensuing session of the State Assembly.
