Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, June 22 - In an effort to streamline train operations for better punctuality, Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reduced the stoppage time of as many as 33 Mail, Express and Passenger trains at the Guwahati Railway Station.

The reduction in duration of stoppage time varies from five minutes to 25 minutes with effect from June 18.

Stoppage of the 15967 Rangiya-Dibrugarh Express, the 15927 Rangiya-Dibrugarh Express, the 13281 New Tinsukia-Rajendranagar Express, the 15659 Kanchanjunga Express, the 25657 Kanchanjunga Express and the 15929 Chennai Egmore-Dibrugarh Express has been reduced by 25 minutes.

In case of the 22502 New Tinsukia-Bengaluru Express, the 15942 Dibrugarh-Jhajha Express, the 15660 Kanchanjunga Express and the 25658 Kanchanjunga Express, the reduction time is 20 minutes.

“This has been possible because of standardisation of maintenance practices at Guwahati. Activities like train watering, cleaning of rakes, loading and unloading of SLRs have been standardised and the amenities improved so that these are completed in lesser time and the train is ready for dispatch within a shorter time,” said Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR.

In addition, among other trains, the duration of halt at Guwahati station of the 15769 Intercity Express, the 15910 Avadh Assam Express and the 15909 Avadh Assam Express has been reduced by five minutes, the 15417 Alipurduar-Silghat Town Express by 15 minutes and the 12235 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the 12435 Dibrugarh Town-New Delhi Rajdhani Express by 10 minutes.
