BJP protest over price rise

 GUWAHATI, June 22 – Hundreds of BJP, Assam Pradesh members courted arrest on Friday while protesting against the increasing prices of all essential commodities including foodgrain.

As part of its movement launched against the unchecked inflation and rampant corruption, the party organized a ‘Jail Bharo’ programme today and blocked the main roads in many parts of the State shouting anti-Congress slogans.

In Hojai 131 BJP members who were blocking the main road for around twenty minutes, courted arrest. Party sources said around 20,000 people in the State courted arrest. “The soaring prices have made life miserable for the common people. But the government is least bothered about the condition of the people,” said the party. In Guwahati, BJP, Guwahati District Committee took out a protest procession and courted arrest.
