Principal of Maria’s Public School passes away

 GUWAHATI, June 20 - Principal of Maria’s Public School Alpana Khound Phukan left for her heavenly abode in the wee hours today after a brief illness. She was 58.

 Khound had served the school for 28 years in the Department of English. She was the head of the department for about two decades and worked as the school Principal for four and a half years. She was appointed as a subject expert in English by the CBSE for AISSE (Class 10). She was also appointed Chief Nodal Officer by CBSE for evaluation for two consecutive years.

Maria’s founder and managing trustee Nellie Ahmed Tanweer in her condolence address at the school, said that Khound’s demise was not only the loss of a great teacher, a friend and a confidante, but also a resource person who had touched every heart she came across with her invaluable insight and brilliance.

The entire Marian fraternity, Khound’s family and thousands of her students mourned her demise. She leaves behind her husband, a daughter and a son.
