Rabha Divas observed across State

 TEZPUR, June 20 - Rabha Divas was observed in the district with a series of programmes today. The Asam Sahitya Sabha, Tezpur unit, also observed the day with various programmes and the members of the literary body paid rich tributes to Kalaguru. Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Padum Rajkhowa, appealed to the youths to follow the path of Kalaguru who sacrificed his life for the betterment of the Assamese society. “He was instrumental in uniting all sections of people in the society,” he said. Rajkhowa was addressing a mammoth gathering on the occasion of Rabha Divas, which was centrally organised by Asam Sahitya Sabha at Dipota here. Echoing the view, noted person Mukunda Kam Sharma dwelt at length on the Kalaguru and urged the people to work together for a better Assamese society . The porgramme held under the presidentship of Dr Hemanta Baruah and it was conducted by Sonitpur District Sahitya Sabha secretary, Mridul Kumar Saharia . A souvenir- “Indradhanu” was also released on the occasion.

Rangiya Correspondent adds: Rabha Divas was observed at different places here today. Rangiya Alochani Sabha observed the day with a day-long programme. Meanwhile, Udayan Sangha observed the day at Rangiya TT College. The day was observed by Zunbeen’s Fan Club at Rangiya Raijmel Swahid Krishak Bhavan. The programme was attended by senior citizens and students who paid rich tributes to Kalaguru.

Biswanath Chariali Correspondent adds: Rabha Divas was also observed at Biswanath Chariali today along with the rest of the state by several organizations, including Biswanath Mahakuma Tai Ahom Yuva Chatra Parishad, Biswanath Chariali Sahitya Sabha, Biswanath district unit of AJYCP and others at Chariali HS and MP School, Binapani Natya Mandir and Biswanath Ghat. Several competitions were organised among the school children on the occasion. A public meeting was held at Chariali HS and MP School with Dr Nityananda Gogoi in the chair. Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur and RP Hazarika spoke a few words in the meeting. The meeting held at the Sahitya Sabha Bhavan was chaired by Kanaklata Neog while Dilip Kumar Bhataacharya, Anjan Borah, Bijit Kumar Nath, Atreyi Borkakati, Swaraj Mani saikia, Bhaben sharma etc spoke on the occasion. The Divas was also observed at Gohpur, Kalabari and Borgang with various programmes.

Gauripur Correspondent adds: The Gauripur Sahitya Sabha also organised a day-long programme on the occasion of Rabha Divas. In this connection a meeting was organised at the Gauripur Public Library wherein several speakers recalled the contribution of Kalaguru towards the Assamese society. Later, the Sahity Sabha felicitated the toppers of the HSLC and HS exams.

Jagiroad correspondent adds: Rich tributes were paid to Kalaguru by various organisations today. In this connection, a Rabha sangeet competition was organised in which students from various schools participated.
