Rabha Divas observed

 TEZPUR, June 20 – The 43rd death anniversary of cultural icon Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha, observed every year as Rabha Divas, was held today at various places in Tezpur and its adjoining areas with various programmes.

As part of the day’s agenda, AASU Tezpur unit paid tribute to the cultural icon at the memorial tomb of the Kalaguru at Samadhikshetra in the morning. To commemorate the day, a street play on the life of the cultural icon was also presented at the Samadhikshetra by a group of artistes of AASU which was followed by presentation of Bishnu Sangeet by the local artistes.

On the otherhand, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha also observed the day by taking out a cultural procession from the heart of the town to the Samannay Kshetra participated by noted artistes Arun Nath, Krishna Das Nath, among others who paid homage to the cultural icon at the Samannay Kshetra.

Likewise, the Jyoti Bharati (Poki) family too paid their tribute towards the cultural icon in a brief function organised to commemorate Rabha Divas at the premises of Jyoti Bharati. The occasion was attended by DC, Sonitpur, Tapan Chandra Sharma, noted artistes Durlav Saikia, Kirti Bania, Uday Saikia, Indu Bhusan Nath and Sandip Kakoti.

Speaking on the occasion DC, Sonitpur, Tapan Chandra Sharma urged the new generation to follow the ideology of the cultural icon reflecting a better and a classless society. In the programme, prominent artistes including Durlav Saikia, Kirti Bania, Uday Saikia, Indo Bhusan Nath and Sandip Kakoti were felicitated by the Jyoti Bharati family with phulaam gamosa.

Alongwith this, Rabha was also commemorated at Trimurty Uddyan here at Padum Pukhuripar wherein ex-MLA Tezpur LAC, Brindaban Goswami, paying tribute to the ‘Kalaguru’, urged all concerned to bring dreams of Bishnu Rabha into reality by following his unmatched ideology of serving a nation through ultimate dedication.

In the programme, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha ex-president, Puneswar Nath, artiste Kirti Bania, Durlav Saikia were also present.

The Dhekiajuli Anchalick AASU also observed the day at Thelamara Bapuji Bhawan complex under Dhekiajuli revenue circle near here with a day long programme. The day’s programme began with tribute to the cultural icon. It was followed various competitions and open session. The open session was attended by AASU organizing secretary, Ananta Bora, district president, Aban Bora among others.
