Restrictions on movement of vehicular traffic

 GUWAHATI, June 20 – The Superintendent of Police (Traffic) City, Guwahati has imposed restriction on movement of vehicular traffic in and around the Kamakhya temple and the surrounding areas, particularly on MG Road, DG Road, TR Phukan Road and the road leading to the Kamakhya temple from foothill on the occasion of the Ambubachi mela to be held from June 21 to 27, stated a press release issued by the Janasanyog.

No two-wheelers (except those with permission of the authorities) will be allowed to enter the road from Kamakhya foothill to Kamakhya temple. Vehicles carrying materials and having special passes will be allowed there but only after 12.00 midnight up to 7.00 am. Moreover, no inter-district and long distance buses, including those operating under ASTC, will be allowed to enter DG Road, MG Road and TR Phukan Road in Guwahati city. No goods carrying commercial vehicles (except vehicles allowed by the authorities) will be allowed to enter from Maligaon to Bharalumukh on DG Road, the release added.

In case of any emergency or problem, people are to approach the on-duty police personnel, the release concluded.
