Train services hit, Karimganj town under water |
BADARPUR, June 17 - Train services in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section have been seriously affected due to rain which has led to landslides. NF Railway sources said that services of at least four trains have been suspended due to severe landslides and washing out of tunnels at various sites of the hill section in Assam, following torrential rains.
Sources stated that although the extent of damage is yet to be fully ascertained, but restoration works have already started in all the affected locations. The Divisional Railway Manager, Lumding, is currently present at the site of the affected areas and is monitoring the entire situation. Work is going on in full swing for clearing the landslide-hit areas, repairing of the tunnels and bridges, so that train services can be resumed as early as possible, the NFR CPRO informed.
