GUWAHATI, June 16 - Governor PB Acharya today felicitated the top ten position holders of the HSLC Exam-2016 at a felicitation function held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhawan. The Governor, while addressing the function, said that the mantra of the day should be ‘Achievers should be givers’. He added that seeing the young students reminded him of the day he passed his matriculation exam from a small village in Karnataka.
The top three position holders of Assam High Madrassa Exam-2016 were also felicitated.
The Governor lauded the achievement made by the students and called upon them to be empowered by education with skill. As India has lots of potential, he said the young generations are the agents to bring progress to the nation.
The students were each felicitated with a traditional gamosa, an appreciation letter and a book of some great personality along with a pen. The principals/heads of the institutions were also felicitated with a gamosa and a certificate each.
At the beginning of the felicitation function, the welcome address was delivered by Ajay Tiwari, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor.
A short speech by each of the top three students was another highlight of the event.
This is the second year the felicitation programme has taken place at Raj Bhawan, which was started mainly due to the initiative taken by the Governor.
