No personal ambition, says Himanta

GUWAHATI, June 16 – A day after Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi charged him with leading the dissident group to realise his dream of becoming the Chief Minister, Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today tried to soft-pedal the issue, saying “We are loyal Congress workers and have no personal ambition. We need to get 12 out of 14 seats (2014 Lok Sabha polls).”

“I have been working with the Chief Minister for the last 12 years. Now at this stage, I do not want to join an issue with him. More so, when we have elections (municipal) on July 19,” Sarma tweeted.

On his confrontation with Gogoi, he further tweeted, “My views on the current political situation are known to my party high command and I will go by their condition. There must be some genuine problem confronted by most of our MLAs. I am sure that our party will address these issues in its own way.”

“It will not be right to presume that so many MLAs are meeting the party leadership only to make someone Chief Minister,” the minister tweeted.
