GUWAHATI, June 16 – Terming Chief Minster Tarun Gogoi as a “modern incarnation of Badan Borphukan”, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) accused the State government has pushed Assam into the brink of social and economic crisis and added that the Congress government has betrayed the local people by handing over land to Bangladesh.

AGP working president Atul Bora (Junior) said that ministers and ruling party MLAs have embezzled “crores of rupees” that have come into the State and are involved in various corruption scandals and scam and Gogoi himself has taken the lead in all this, according to a press statement from the party.

Bora said that the Congress-led State government made over 12,000 assurances regarding various schemes during past 12 years but failed to even implement 5 per cent of them.

Accusing Gogoi and the State government of providing patronage to chit fund companies, the AGP leader said such firms made looted crores of rupees from the common people of the State.

“Saradha and Rose Valley are Gogoi’s adopted sons. Under Gogoi’s protection, Saradha and Rose Valley have looted crores or rupees from lakhs of people in Assam,” he said.
