RGI to review NRC proceedings in Silchar |
SILCHAR, June 14 - Ahead of the publication of the second part draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on June 30, the Registrar General of India (RGI) Sailesh along with Joint Secretary, Government of India and officials from the Government of Assam, including Additional Director General of Police and Principal Secretary will be reaching Silchar for a high-level review meeting on the proceedings of the NRC and related security measures. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday. Further, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the meeting will be taking place at the Silchar Airport in Kumbhirgram.
On the other hand, Dr Laxmanan claimed that the Cachar District administration is confident to enlist the names of the applicants in the second part draft list sans clerical anomalies.
“There is no reason to panic for the people if their names are found missing from the second draft list since there will be sufficient time for claims and objections for the concerned citizens,” Dr Laxmanan said. “We have laid emphasis on checking of documents submitted by the applicants and there are subjective influences regarding the enrollment of names,” he maintained.
