BJP’s lone minority MLA from Cachar faces life threat
Staff Correspondent
SILCHAR, June 13 - BJP’s lone minority legislator in the government and an elected MLA from Sonai constituency of Cachar district Aminul Haque Laskar has reportedly received life threat from a Muslim organisation.

Talking to The Assam Tribune on Tuesday, Aminul said that he has received the threat through a letter which also contained two live bullets. “Like every other day, I got a number of letters on June 9. While I began to look at the letters, one of the letters written in red font colour had the message that I must quit the BJP within 15 days. The letter sent under the pad of Save Secure and Development Orotection Force of Muslims also had two .32 mm live bullets, Aminul informed.

Asked whether the threat is making him feel perturbed, Aminul replied, “I am not fazed at all and I have no plans to quit the party. If people think that two bullets would send shudders down my spine, they are living in a fool’s paradise. As an MLA representing the BJP, I have raised voices against all the foul plays and I feel I have done no wrong. I have asked the Cachar police to probe the matter to unearth the real facts.”
