GUWAHATI, June 12 - The District Legal Services Authority, District Child Protection Unit and Kamrup Metro Zila Parishad today jointly organised a programme on the occasion of World Day against Child Labour in the conference hall of Kamrup Metro Zila Parishad here.

Addressing the gathering, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said that child labour is a social evil that endangers the development of both children and society.

“Children are the future of the world. However, when they are forced into labour, their mental and physical growth is impeded,” Pegu said.

Higher officials of various departments also took part in the said programme. As part of the occasion, all the participants also took oath not to engage child labourers in their homes and places of work.
