It has affected the study of students but the small traders running PCOs, computer centres, xerox centres, garages, radio and TV repair centres have become the worst sufferers of the erratic power supply having to depend upon electricity.

It is ironical that when the Government is encouraging unemployed youths to generate self employment through small scale trades, failure of the electricity department to ensure regular power supply has left the traders baffled. Though the importance of Mushalpur as Baksa district headquarter is increasing the quality of power supply continues to remain the same here despite public appeals to improve the same.

Micro-savings opened: With the initiative of a group of enthusiastic youths, a micro-savings organisation was opened at Nikashi in Baksa on June-1. The office of Rural Economic Ascertained Development System (READS) was inaugurated by Nripen Chandra Deka, branch manager, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Mushalpur while the opening of bank khata was inaugurated by CK Sarma, Sub-registrar, Cooperative Societies, Mushalpur.

The AGVB manager lauded the initiative of the youths and expressed hope that the organisation will encourage the rural masses for savings. He maintained that involvement of local youths in such venture will enhance the credibility of the organisation as it is known from media about many fake financial organisations from outside the State often deceive the rural people and flee overnight. The Sub-registrar also spoke on the occasion.
