New power supply scheme launched in Raha

 RAHA, June 3 - In bid to provide round-the-clock power supply to the people, Raha MLA Dimbeswar Das launched an Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS).

 A meeting held on the occasion was attended by top APDCL officials from Nagaon, Chandan Sharma, GM, Krishnendu Saikia, CEO, Pranab Bordoloi, AGM. Dev Dulal Sharma, SDO, ASEB, Raha, Ranjit Kalita, Mistaful Islam Bora, junior engineers (JEs) of ASEB, Raha were also present at the function.

Dimbeswar Das after launching the scheme in his speech said, “In the entire country, about Rs 45,000 crore will be spent under the IPDS by the Central Government. This scheme will address many issues related to the power sector, especially in the urban areas.”

He further said that one of the important tasks of the Government is to provide 24X7 power supply to all by 2022 and this scheme is an effort in that direction. He added that he is committed to developing the power scenario in Raha constituency and urged the local ASEB officials to look into the grievances relating to electricity of the people of the area and address them on a priority basis.

The MLA further thanked ASEB Raha SDO Dev Dulal Sharma for his tireless efforts on the ground, including his team of officials, the technical staff and all others, to make the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana for village electrification a success at Raha.

Krishnendu Saikia, CEO of APDCL in his speech said, “The IPDS will cover works relating to strengthening sub-transmission and distribution system, including provisioning of solar panels, metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers in urban areas and IT-enablement of the distribution sector.”

“We will provide uninterrupted supply of electricity only when you support us,” he said. He said that two sub-stations will be set up in Nagaon district, one at Raha, to help improve the power distribution infrastructure in the district.

All households at Raha where electricity was not available 24x7, will now experience zero power failure once the sub-station starts functioning, thereby appealing to the residents of Raha to cooperate with them.

The foundation stone of the 2X5 MVA, 33-11 KV receiving station at Raha near Raha College was also laid by the local MLA.

The sub-station which would be set up at a total cost of Rs 6.64 crore is expected to be completed before March 2019. The project work will be carried out by Megha Electricals of Guwahati.

The other dignitaries present at the function were Gunahas Bora, former Principal and president of the college governing body of Raha College, Dr Beda Chaliha, Principal of Raha College, Dhruba Das, chairman of Raha Town Committee, among others.
