Four toppers bring cheers to Jorhat

 JORHAT, June 2 - Securing their ranks in top 10 positions in the results of this year’s higher secondary final examination of Science and Arts streams, three girls and a boy of three different private junior colleges of the district brought accolades to urban Jorhat and Titabor today.

Excellent result of Dipankar Barua of Titabor-based Pragjyotika Junior College made the teachers, parents, well-wishers and the citizens of Titabor and Jorhat happy as he could achieve the 3rd position in the Science stream by securing 484 marks in the examination.

Boishali Dutta of Jorhat-based Pragya Academy got 10th position in the Science stream.

Two girls of Jorhat’s Crescent Academy Junior College, namely, Karishma Saikia and Trishna Saikia brought laurels to the entire city by achieving 3rd and 10th position in Arts stream, respectively. However, no Commerce stream student of Jorhat colleges could bag any position in the toppers’ list.

Teaching community and several guardians applauded the efforts of private colleges of Jorhat which could provide adequate guidance to the students in achieving commendable success in the higher secondary examination.

The district witnessed pass percentage of 95.48 per cent in the Science stream, 90.87 per cent in the Commerce stream and 87.54 in the Arts stream in this year’s HS results.

Out of total 2,122 candidates in the Science stream, 2,026 passed the examination and among the successful students, 1,503 got first division, 455 students got second division, while 68 passed the examination in the third division.

In the Commerce Stream, though 624 students of the district appeared in the examination, 567 could pass the exam. Among the successful candidates, 126 got first division, 220 passed in second division and 221 got third division.

In the Arts stream, 7,892 students appeared for the examination and 6,909 cleared it. As many as 1,490 students passed the examination in the first division, while 2,636 and 2783 students of the district got second and third divisions respectively.
