ITANAGAR, June 1 - The Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), the apex body of the Adi community in Arunachal Pradesh, today staged a sit-in demonstration at the IG Park Tennis Court here in protest against Friday’s incident in which unidentified miscreants set a car on fire in front of the private residence of State BJP president and newly-elected Lok Sabha member from the Arunachal East seat, Tapir Gao, at Niti Vihar. People from all walks of life joined the protest.

“The solidarity expressed by members of different communities, organisations and people from different walks of life shows the utter rejection of the criminal and barbarous act perpetrated by the miscreants. It has sent out a strong message to antisocial elements that common citizens in the State will no longer tolerate criminal and subversive activities any longer,” stated the BJP president in a statement here.

He further said, “The voluntary rejection and condemnation expressed against the ugly incident by the people vindicates the triumph of good over evil, humanity over insanity. Today’s dharna has not only boosted my morale but also given me great hope that the time is changing for the better in Arunachal Pradesh,” Gao added. He also said: “I am deeply touched and humbled by the solidarity and sympathy expressed by people from all walks of life at the ABK-organised peaceful dharna at Tennis Court, Itanagar today.”
