Road named after Lummer Dai

 ITANAGAR, June 1 – The Arunachal Pradesh Government today paid tribute to State’s literary doyen Lummer Dai by dedicating a road in his name near the State hospital at Naharlagun commemorating his 72nd birth anniversary.

Education Minister Bosiram Siram inaugurating the road commented that Dai showed flair for creative writing and wrote several novels in Assamese namely, Paharor hile hile, Prithivir hahi, Upar Mahal, Maun aru Maun and award winning novel Kanyar mulya.

Lauding the initiatives and efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society and Assam Sahitya Sabha (ASS), he said that the literary works and forums have helped in promoting mutual understanding, amity and brotherhood among society and people for a harmonious world.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the ASS for re-introducing Assamese language as a third language in the State, Siram said that the State Government would consider the proposal. – PTI
