Security to ferry users demanded
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, June 1 – Asking the district administration to take measures to ensure security to ferry users between Guwahati and North Guwahati, the Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) today said that due to lack of security the commuters are in a vulnerable position.

After having discussions with members of the Rajaduwar/Madhyam Khanda Nadi Yatri Suraksha Samity, the NGO has written to the district administration to provide modern ferry services for the people.

“Every day, around 20,000 people travel between Guwahati and North Guwahati aboard boats and mechanized country boats (bhootbhooti). Unfortunately, there is no security arrangement for them,” a statement from SGBG said.
