Mamata tells PM: roll back petrol prices

KOLKATA, June 2 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to roll back the hike in petrol prices.

"She requested him to think over a roll back," the official Trinamool Congress website said.

Manmohan Singh met Banerjee briefly at the Calcutta University where he addressed the centenary celebrations of the Indian Science Congress Association.

Banerjee had earlier led a protest rally of several thousands here, asking the central government to roll back the increased petroleum prices.
