|Schemes for repair of flood-ravaged infrastructure in Dibrugarh dist okayed|
DIBRUGARH, July 23 - The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) here approved several proposals placed by different departments for repair, restoration and rehabilitation of the flood-affected people, cattle, embankments, roads and other public utility amenities that were partially or completely damaged in the recent flood.
In a special meeting of the DDMA presided over by Sanjay Dutta on Monday, Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of district development, the authority approved repair of some 956 partially damaged and 117 totally washed away houses under Chabua, Dibrugarh West, Dibrugarh East and Moran Revenue Circles.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepu Kumar Deka, incharge of disaster management asked the circle officers to immediately submit the list of identified heads of the affected families and their bank account numbers to the District Disaster Management Authority.
The meeting also approved repair and restoration of over 15 embankments under the Water Resources Department, 49 roads under the PWD and the NH Division, 45 roads under Dibrugarh Municipal Board and 7 water supply installations under PHE. Other proposals put forth by the departments of Social Welfare, Education, Agriculture, Veterinary, Health and Fishery were also approved during the meeting.
The DDMA will now forward the approved proposals to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority for aid under the State Disaster Response Fund, a release stated.
