400 IPFT supporters join BJP
CORRESPONDENT
AGARTALA, July 20 - The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the BJP-led coalition Government in Tripura, has suffered a major jolt after 400 party supporters joined the saffron party.

The IPFT voters switched over to the BJP under the leadership of Niru Debbarma, IPFT assistant organising secretary of Bishramganj division in Sepahijala district.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, who represents the Charilam constituency, welcomed the newcomers to the BJP fold at a programme held on Friday. Political observers said that the IPFT has lost ground in the strategically important Bishramganj area of Charilam constituency.
