National award to city school art director

 GUWAHATI, July 20 - Biswajit De, Creative Director, Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, has won the prestigious National Award for being an Inspiring Climate Educator and Community Service leader, according to a press release here.

Because of his extensive work in the area of environment and conservation education, the award was given to him by Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Govt of Gujarat, at the National Green Mentors Commendation Conference organised recently at Ahmedabad jointly by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and the Department of Climate Change, Govt of Gujarat.

The jury for the award comprised stalwarts and experts from the environment education and conservation sector of the country. This is for the first time that a teacher from a school from North East India has been chosen for the prestigious award, the press release claimed.

Known for his use of creative arts and design in conservation education, De continues to inspire the student community and connects them to Nature. Also a National Geographic certified environment educator, he is now undergoing training in Mysore as part of the YouCan Earth Ambassador Programme.
