|CM directs study panel formation|
GUWAHATI, July 19 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed constitution of a committee to study the flood problem of Guwahati city and to suggest remedial measures to mitigate the problem.
The Chief Minister directed Additional Chief Secretary, Guwahati Development Department (GDD) to constitute the committee. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will provide necessary logistical support to the committee.
The committee will comprise Prof NK Choudhury, former Vice- Chancellor, Gauhati University, Prof Nayan Sarma, IIT-Roorkee, Dr Arup Kumar Sarma, Professor, Dept of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati, Prof Utpal Sarma, Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, Dr BC Kalita, Former HoD, Department of Geography, Cotton College, AK Mitra, Chairman, Technical Advisory Committee, Water Resources Department and the Chief Executive Officer, GMDA.
