Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, July 19 – Sivasagar District Sports Association is gearing up for holding the All Assam Major State Ranking Table Tennis Championship.

The meet will be held at Sivasagar Indoor Stadium from July 27 to 29 under the guidance of Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA).

Senior NIS coach of the State Rajdeep Bhuyan of Dibrugarh has been appointed as tournament director, informed ATTA secretary Tridib Duvarah. It is for the first time that in a State level TT meet a tournament director is appointed to look after every nook and corner of the meet.

Govinda Upadhaya of Guwahati, Biman Bhagawati and Chandan Goswami have been appointed as chief referee and assistant referee respectively.

This time the organisers are expecting around 400 paddlers from all over the State in the championship. The organising body and ATTA officials hope that the performance of the players will be improved in this meet as good number of players have attended the month-long advance coaching camp under North Korean coach here at Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium.

Altogether 11 events will be conducted in various age group from cadet to senior level.
