Govt lacks schemes for erosion-hit: Sonowal

 NORTH LAKHIMPUR, July 18 The president of the State BJP committee, Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday accused the State Government of not taking up any relief or rehabilitation schemes for the people affected by erosion. He was addressing a press conference at Garehaga, Azad here before attending a public meeting.

Sonowal said that the State Government has not introduced any scheme for the protection and rehabilitation of the erosion-affected people. He demanded of the State Government to distribute land pattas to the indigenous people of the State affected by erosion to compensate for their losses.

Sonowal also expressed his concern over the increase in prices of essential commodities and termed Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi as a person who had failed to control the syndicates run by his own partymen. The State BJP chief also asked the Prime Minister of India to speed up work on the NRC update in Assam. He asked the Chief Minister to seal the Indo-Bangla border to check infiltration.
