3 militants nabbed in Garo Hills

 WILLIAMNAGAR, July 18 In a major breakthrough, East Garo Hills police apprehended two GNLA deserters besides seizing a consignment of arms in two separate incidents over two days.

In the first incident yesterday, two militants who had deserted the GNLA camp two months ago were caught from the Samanda area in East Garo Hills while they were travelling in a Sumo.

The two were amongst four militants who had deserted the Chokpot GNLA camp with arms snatched from the Chokpot GNLA command.

In another incident at Chinabat today around 10 am, the police intercepted a Scorpio and apprehended one militant. Two other militants escaped into the jungle. A search of the vehicle revealed three AK 47s, one AK magazine, two UBGL grenades and six rifle ammunition.
