Floods claim two lives in Nagaon district

 NAGAON, July 16 - The flood situation in the entire district is still grim and the flood water of the mighty Brahmaputra and Kapili have inundated new areas under Koliabor, Dhing, Samaguri, Kampur, Rupahihat and Raha revenue circles. During the last 24 hours, the floods claimed the life of two persons at Kaliabor and Kampur circles in the district. The emergency rescue units deployed by the district administration, recovered the bodies of two persons on Monday last and today after they were washed away by the flood water on July 13 and July 14 last respectively. According to sources, the deceased persons have been identified as Amulya Sarma of Pachim Gilani village and Jiten Medhi of Burhapahargaon village under Kampur and Kaliabor revenue circles respectively.

 ANN Service adds from Kaliabor: Kuthari and some other areas of Kaliabor revenue circle have been inundated by the Brahmaputra and the affected people are taking shelter on the roads and schools. Flood relief is also being distributed.

In the Hatimura dyke near Kollong, there is leakage, but the Water Resource department plugging the leaks with earth-filled bags. Minister K Mahanta along with B Neog, SDO, Kaliabor visited and inspected the works and assured that there is no cause for any apprehension.
