Some trains to get extra coaches in view of passenger rush

 GUWAHATI, July 16 - Given the disruption of road communication at many places due to the ongoing floods and the resultant heavy rush of passengers on trains, the Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to add additional coaches to a number of trains from tomorrow.

“Flood has affected nearly 30 districts of Assam. As a result, road connectivity between upper and lower Assam has been affected. Heavy rush has been witnessed in trains due to disruption of road communication. To mitigate the problem being faced by stranded passengers, the NFR has decided to add additional coaches to some popular trains connecting important places of upper and lower Assam, among other destinations,” said Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR.

Sharma said one second class coach each will be added to the 12068/12067 Guwahati-Jorhat Town Jan Shatabdi Express, the 55753/55754 Alipurduar-Guwahati Passenger, the 15717/15718 Guwahati-Mariani Passenger and the 55820/55819 Guwahati-Mendipathar Passenger during the period from July 17 to 24.

In addition, two second class coaches will be added to the 15928/15927 new Tinsukia-Rangiya Express on July 17, July 20, July 21, July 23 and July 24 from New Tinsukia and on July 19, July 20, July 22 and July 23 from Rangiya.

Besides, two second class coaches will be added to the 15968/15967 Dibrugarh-Rangiya Express on July 18, July 19 and July 22 from Dibrugarh and on July 17, July 18, July 21 and July 24 from Rangiya.
