Attempt to poach rhinos at KNP foiled

 KOHORA, July 15 – Acting on intelligence inputs, the field staff of Kaziranga National Park successfully foiled an attempt made by a group of poachers to kill one-horned rhinoceroses inside the park.

While talking to this correspondent, the Director of Kaziranga National Park-cum-Tiger Reserve, Sanjib Kumar Bora informed that out of a five-member group, two poachers Abija Guite (29) and Lun Guite (24), who might have lost their way inside the forest of Kaziranga had been apprehended by the forest staff of Northern Range of the Park near Laharoni forest camp on Friday and later a 303 rife and thirteen rounds of live ammunition were recovered at Betchuchi area located between Sitalmari and Borlononi forest camp which is under western range of

Bagori. These ammunition were actually found to be hidden on a tree top. Investigation in this regard is going on till filing of this report.
