GUWAHATI, July 15 – Remembering Singha Purush Radha Govinda Baruah’s dedication towards work culture, the 35th death anniversary of the great visionary was observed today on the bank of Dighalipukhuri.

In a programme organized by the RG Baruah Smriti Rakhya Committee, bronze statue of RG Baruah was garlanded and floral tributes were paid to him.

Recalling his versatile personality, RG Baruah’s son and chairman of the Assam Tribune Group, TG Baruah said that other than establishing a newspaper house, he contributed immensely for uplift of culture and sports in Assam. “As a true visionary, his efforts were always guided towards bringing sustainable development in the State and one of his objectives was to build infrastructural support for the younger generations,” he said.

Remembering his dedication towards the work culture, noted economist Dr Jayanta Madhab said that RG Baruah’s dynamism and farsightedness could be understood from the fact that he established a newspaper house and ensured its sustenance during a period which was not very congenial for newspaper industry in Assam.

PG Baruah, Editor of The Assam Tribune, SG Baruah, director of Assam Tribune Group and Bhuban Lahkar, general secretary of the Smriti Rakhya Committee, were also present on the occasion.

Floral tributes were also paid to RG Baruah at the Nehru Stadium and the premises of the Assam Tribune Group. It may be mentioned here that RG Baruah’s role was instrumental in establishing the Nehru Stadium.
