Second wave of flood submerges many areas in Sonitpur dist
 TEZPUR, July 13 - The second wave of flood caused by river Brahmaputra this year following incessant rains during the last few days in Arunachal Pradesh as well as in Sonitpur district, has rendered a number of families homeless. It is to be mentioned here that residences of many families of Bhairab Mandir and Hanuman mandir, Kolaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Samadhixetra, Tolgereki, Marabharalipara, Balisapori, Bhumuraguri, Bhujkhwa Chapori, Kacharipam and Ushapur areas under Tezpur LAC have been submerged displacing many people.

  The flood water has also inundated many major link roads in the area following which people of the area are cut off from other parts of the district. Beside the flood problem, the massive erosion caused in the Bhumuraguri area is posing a serious threat to people. In town, Cotton Road under ward no. 1, Jahajghat, Tezpur ITI, Bhairab Pad, Debising Ghat etc., areas have been submerged by the flood water of Brahmaputra. Likewise, in Burhachapori area under Tezpur LAC many families have been affected and they are taking shelter in safer places.

Moreover, the outskirts of Tezpur town areas like Jarani, Rangamati, Nij-Bihaguri, Bhalukexua, Bardubia, Kamarchunuri, Jakaruachuk, Pithakhwa, Gerua, Balikhuti, Puthimari etc., along with large agricultural areas have been flooded. In these areas, the flood has eroded the Jarani road connecting the NH-15 at Nij Bihaguri area. During the recent flood at many stretches of this road was eroded and, this time, a few more stretches have been eroded cutting off people’s link with other parts of the district. People of this area are now taking shelter in safer places.

In Barchala area including Bargain, Bhora-Singri, Chitalmari, No. 1 Bochasimalu and Morichuti under Barchala LAC in Sonitpur district, many families have been affected. Meanwhile, beside the flood water of Brahmaputra river, the flood fury caused by Jiabharali river has affected many areas including Khaloibeel, Koroioni-Nepali, Tengabasti, No. 3 Siruani, Rajbharal and Garsinga Bihiagaonunder Tezpur LAC near Tezpur town.

Moreover, areas like Rajgar, Singitoli, Towbhanga Chapori, Kekokoli Missing gaon etc., under Rangapra LAC in Sonitpur district have been flooded for which many families have been rendered homeless and they are taking shelter in highland areas.
