Flood affects 160 Dhubri villages

 DHUBRI, July 13 - The continuous rise in water level of most of the rivers in Dhubri district has submerged 160 villages and destroyed 8,920 hectares of crop land, as on Wednesday.

 According to the Daily Flood Report under Dhubri revenue circle 12 villages, under Golokganj revenue circle 76 villages and under South Salmara revenue circle 80 villages have been submerged and hundreds of hectares of crop land have been flooded. It also informed that a population of 32,198 have been affected by the ongoing flood.

It may be mentioned that the Brahmaputra has crossed its danger level and is flowing at 29.68 metres and the Gangadhar is flowing at 30.47 metres, when their danger level is at 28.68 metres and 29.94 metres, respectively. However, the water level of Brahmaputra is on the rise and it has already damaged seven roads in the district.
