Electric crematorium inaugurated

 GUWAHATI, July 13 - A newly constructed electric crematorium was launched on Ram Krishna Mission Road in Ulubari area. Guwahati Development Department Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya inaugurated the crematorium today.

 The crematorium – Dr Banikanta Kakati Electric crematorium – was constructed by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) at a cost of Rs 509.41 lakh in a bid to reduce pollution.

The crematorium is equipped with modern-day facilities.

Accommodated in a two-storied building, it has two electric furnaces and advanced pollution control devices like effluent treatment plant along with a chimney for a clean and hygienic atmosphere.
