Rathyatra at Ram Raikuti Satra today

 GAURIPUR, July 13 - Rathyatra of Lord Krishna will be held tomorrow at the historic Ram Raikuti Satra at Satrasal, situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border, 30 km away from Gauripur. This year more than 50,000 devotees are expected to take part in the celebrations, said Jitendra Nath Prodhani, the satradhikar.

Tomorrow morning, the Satra campus will be cleaned and puja rituals of Lord Krishna and his eldest brothe Balaram will be performed as per Vaisnavite rules. Naam-kirtan will also be held. In the afternoon, the idols of the deities will be placed in the brass metal chariot donated by Koch general Bir Chilarai and King Naranarayan and it will move several times around the manikut and therafter the devotees will pull the chariot to Ghunushabari, situated a few miles away from the satra. The devotees will follow the chariot performing naam-kirtan and throw leteku a fruit as a mark of respect. A big mela will also be held. Rathyatra will also be held at Jinklata Satra, situated along the Assam-North Bengal border.
