GUWAHATI, July 11 - Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School, which was set up in protest against the Cunningham Circular in 1930, will celebrate its 90th foundation day on July 15 with a daylong programme. The celebration is being organised by the Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School authorities in association with the alumni association of the school.
According to a press release here today, the celebration will start with the hoisting of the school flag by president of the Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School management committee Dr Bhabaranjan Sarma in the morning that day. Principal CB Roy will initiate the programme for paying homage to the martyrs.
The open session, being organised as part of the celebration at 11 am that day, will be addressed by Dr Umesh Sarma, former Vice Chancellor of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Health and Science University, as the chief guest.
On the occasion, a cultural programme has also been planned, in which several leading artistes will perform. The artistes who had undergone training at the programme jointly organised by the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust and Sur Sandhan on Assamese songs and drama, under the joint auspices of the Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School and its alumni association, will also perform at this function.
