GUWAHATI, July 11 - The Assam Tribune – Nation Talks, a documentary based on the journey of The Assam Tribune – the most respected and popular newspaper of the North East – will be telecast on the Prag News satellite channel at 12.30 pm on July 14.
The documentary, produced by CEC and conceptualised by Dipankar Dutta and Arunima Dutta, showcases the newspaper’s 80-year journey through interviews, visuals and memoirs of the newspaper group revealing the challenges, pitfalls and triumphs it encountered.
Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury plays the role of the storyteller in the documentary, which is directed by Jhulan Krishna Mahanta.
It was premiered on the occasion of the 25th year of the CEC on May 2 this year. The Editor of The Assam Tribune, PG Baruah, Director of the Assam Tribune Group, Babita Rajkhowa, and Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, along with a galaxy of eminent personalities were present on the occasion.
The documentary has already been sent to many national and international film festivals, including the prestigious London Film Festival. The world TV premiere of the documentary will be a nostalgic journey for the former employees, all the persons related to The Assam Tribune group, and the people of Assam in general.
The Assam Tribune – Nation Talks highlights the newspaper’s stellar contribution in chronicling and shaping the history of modern Assam. The documentary also conveys the extraordinary story of Singhapurush RG Baruah and how he was able to build an organisation that has won hearts of readers and critics alike across the globe.
The documentary, among other things, focuses on how the newspaper has been able to remain an undisputed market leader in the newspaper industry of the North East.
