In a statement here, the AASU said that the Chief Minister has been trying to delay the process of updating the NRC at least up to the next Assembly polls. He is also trying to include names of Bangladeshi nationals in the NRC, alleged the students’ body.
Strongly reacting to the Chief Minister’s decision to form a Cabinet Sub committee to examine the loopholes in the modalities of updating the NRC, the AASU said that the modalities were prepared by a Cabinet Sub Committee and the same were sent to the Centre for approval. Moreover, the forms were prepared in consultation with the AASU and 26 organisations representing different ethnic groups of the state. There is no reason for forming another Cabinet Sub committee now, said the AASU.
