Town Club in semifinals

 GUWAHATI, July 9 – Defending champions ASEB Sports Club were in a for a surprise as they were beaten by Gauhati Town Club (GTC) 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the NN Bhatta Football Tournament at the Nehru Stadium here today.

It was ASEB SC who drew first blood in the very 1st minute of the game when Sanjay Boro found the back of the net. But GTC had enough energy to bounce back in the game when Rakesh Das scored his teams first goal through a header after a corner kick in the 60th minute.

The final nail in the coffin was put by Tomba Singh of GTC in the 75th minute through a penalty after a ASEB defender committed a hand ball.
