NDRF rescues 14888 flood-hit people so far

 GUWAHATI, July 9 – The 16 teams of 1st National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed in the districts of Sonitpur, Dhubri, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Nagaon, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Barpeta and Kamrup have so far rescued 14888 people to safer places.

According to an official of NDRF, its teams have also assisted the civil administration in distributing 926 quintals of relief materials to 6569 families and have provided basic medical facilities to the flood victims. “Our teams are regularly organizing free medical camps and assisting the civil administration in distributing free medicines to the flood affected people and cattle,” said the official. The NDRF teams conducted free medical camp at Tinsukia and distributed medicines to more than 600 people and for 400 cattle. Similarly NDRF teams at Sonitpur distributed free medicines to more than 1000 people.
