NDFB (P) distributes flood relief

 BARAMA, July 8 – NDFB (P) distributed relief among flood-affected people who have been taking shelter at Barama HS school since a few days back recently. D Detsung, the ‘finance secretary’ of NDFB (P) handed over 44 bags of rice, three bags of dal, 3 tins of mustard oil, two bags of sugar and clothes to the flood victims and other essential commodities.

D Detsung and Gangadhar Ramchiary, the advisor of Bodo Elder Society met the sick people of the camp and took stock of the situation at the relief camp.

Tree plantation by Rotary Club

GUWAHATI, July 8 – The Rotary Club of Gauhati South organised a tree plantation programme at the new Guwahati Central Jail compound at Sarusajai on July 7. This was an initiative of the Rotary Club of Gauhati South under their ongoing environment protection campaign pursued by them for several years now.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of the club dwelt on the critical role of trees in our environment. A senior Rotarian Gayatri Bhattacharya, a few other Rotarians and the superintendent of the jail Madhab Chandra Saikia also spoke briefly on the subject. A large number of Rotarians, employees of the jail and the inmates participated in the function.
