NILAMBAZAR , July 7 - The Karimganj Police will take necessary steps as per law, against the former Deputy Commissioner of Karimganj district, Pradip Kumar Talukdar and Additional Deputy Commissioner Nabarun Bhattacharjee, who are yet to appear before it in connection with the multi-crore land scam case of Sutarkandi land port.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, Sudhanya Suklabaidya told ANN Service that the police had asked for their appearance by issuing a notice under Section 41 of the CrPC, within three days, on last Monday. Former DC Talukdar is presently posted as the Commissioner of Co-operation at Dispur and the former ADC Bhattacharjee is the DDC of Cachar district.

Suklabaidya said that the notice was served through the authorities of the concern departments, but neither the former DC and ADC appeared nor returned the notice and now the police will take necessary steps against the accused persons as per law. There are twelve cases in connection with the Sutarkandi land scam pending before Karimganj police, he said.

Earlier, former Circle Officer of Karimganj, Homen Gohain Baruah and two other employees Mihir Ranjan Malakar and Pranjit Nath were sent to judicial custody on charges of forging administrative documents, on June 28 last by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Karimganj.
