PM assures more fund for Nagaland
DIMAPUR, July 3 – Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured to provide more funds to Nagaland in the month of September and additional funds for all Northeastern States for the current financial year, according to a DIPR Press release.

The Prime Minister gave this assurance to Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland CM Chang who called on him at his 7 Race Course residence in New Delhi on July 2.

During their meeting, Chang had requested for more funds for Nagaland. The PM mentioned that he had assured Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in their last meeting about the additional fund for the State and an early solution to Indo-Naga political problem.

The MP also apprised Singh on the Indo-Naga political issue and appealed for an early solution to the problem. “The Naga problem should be resolved during your time and under your leadership,” Chang urged the Prime Minister.

The Nagas were expecting the solution before the elections and the people of the State are patiently waiting for a permanent settlement which will be honourable and acceptable to the Nagas, Chang said. In this connection, the Prime Minister said “We are serious about the Naga problem and the issue will be solved soon.”
