 GOALPARA, June 3 – In protest against the killing of two teachers (whose bodies were recovered on June 30) by unidentified miscreants, various organisations of the district including the All Rabha Student Union, All Assam Students Union, Garo Students Union, Gorkha Students Union, ABSU, Hajong Students Union , AKRSU and others along with the teachers associations have jointly called for a 12-hour Goalpara bandh tomorrow from 6 am.

The organisations have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the victims’s family, immediate settlement of all the dues including ex-gratia payments and a government job to one member of the deceased family on compensatory ground.

Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the DC’s office yesterday to pay homage to the departed souls. Charing the meeting Preetom Saikia, DC said that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 30,000 has already been paid from the district administration to the victim families.
